5 Healthy Habits to Develop This Summer

Hey hey! Welcome back to my blog! Today I’ve got a fun little blog post for you!

I feel like summer is always a good time to reassess your goals and create new ones. For one, I get into a routine while at school so when I move back home for the summer it feels like a totally fresh start. Also, June is month 6 out of 12 so it’s a perfect time to change your goals or update them a little!

I always love to find new ways to make my life a little bit healthier, and today I’ve got 5 ways you can do that this season! So, here are my top 5 healthy habits to develop this summer:

1. CARRY A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOU EVERYWHERE YOU GO

This is such a great habit to have. I know I sometimes struggle to drink enough water throughout the day, but whenever I have a water bottle around I always drink more! I feel like with a bottle in front of me I constantly find myself mindlessly taking sips from it without even having to think about it. In the summer the hot weather makes it much easier to get dehydrated so having a water bottle constantly at your disposal is super helpful.

2. POOL DAY? SWIM LAPS

Speaking of water, here’s a tip for your next pool day! I love lounging around poolside and soaking up the sun. I also love just floating around in the pool to cool off. Whenever I have a pool day I always like to swim some laps for a bit. It gives you a little mini workout during your pool day which is always a good thing!

3. GET OUTSIDE MORE

Over the summer the weather is much nicer out which means you have more opportunities to spend your free time and weekends outside! Doing things like a walk after dinner or going to a bike path with family/friends on the weekend will get you active and will get you some Vitamin D!

4. KEEP A ROUTINE SLEEP SCHEDULE

In the summer it can be easy to fall into a routine of staying up super late and sleeping until the afternoon. This summer, try to go to bed at a reasonable hour and not sleep in too late. Waking up at the same time every day is good for you, so trying to set an alarm for the same general time in the morning is a good habit to have!

5. REMEMBER SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY

One tip is to simply throw a bottle of each in your car so you always have some on hand. Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays and protecting your body from possible viruses being carried from mosquitoes is so so important. Wear makeup or use a moisturizer that has SPF. Always remember to be protected and you’ll be safe from any harm to your skin all summer!
