How To: Homemade Acai Bowl

Acai bowls are very in right now, and rightfully so. They are cute, tasty ways to get some fruit in and make a nice and (fairly) healthy breakfast or snack! While you can go to a cute cafe to get one, those can be filled with unnecessary sugars. By making your own at home you have total control over what is in it and it can be as healthy or unhealthy you want it to be!

The best thing about these is that they are super customizable to what you like and want to eat! They’re also super easy to make. All you need are a few ingredients, a blender, and whatever toppings you desire.

Here’s how I made this super simple acai bowl!

I used one of Trader Joe’s Unsweetened Organic Acai Puree Packets (you can buy them in packs of 4) and blended it together with a frozen banana, a few strawberries, and a little bit of milk. Instead of milk, you could use yogurt or any type of dairy free milk!

I also recommend breaking up the acai a bit before to make it easier when blending! In this specific one, I used a whole banana, and the taste of it was very strong so next time I will probably use only half. It’s up to you how much to use! You also could throw in a few blueberries to blend with everything as well. The frozen banana is what helps it get a creamy, ice-cream-like texture.

Once it’s all blended just pour it into a bowl, cut up some fresh fruit and put it on top! Other toppings you could use would be granola, some peanut butter or almond butter, chia seeds, or really anything you’d like!

Making this is super easy and the end product is both pretty and delicious! If you’re a big fan of smoothies, then an acai smoothie bowl is perfect for you! Give it a try, snap a picture, and enjoy!
